The twin of Sean Courtney, Garrick is the family ugly duckling. Slim and feminine, his wispy hair is an ‘undecided’ brown colour. He is freckled with pale blue eyes that turn pink from persistent hay fever. When he is young, he is shot in a hunting accident involving Sean that leaves him resentful, and he battles with this throughout his life. He becomes an Army General and historian, marries Anna Stok, and later Anna Van Essen, Centaine’s nursemaid.
